I frequently make references to a couple of things in discussions with my clients.

The Koehler Faucet Commercial

It is helpful to me when designing a site for a client to have something to base the site upon.  It could be a brochure, a business card, letterhead, something that gets us started in a particulare direction.  This commercial is a wonderful spoof of this approach.

 

 

The Lego Mona Lisa

I frequently describe Joomla as being "Lego blocks for websites".  By this I mean that you can assemble the thousands of Joomla plug-ins to make almost any site that you can think of.  Emphasis should be on the almost, and a willingness to accept that there are limitations in using Joomla just as there are for Legos.  In this mode I say that you can create the Mona Lisa with Lego blocks but it may not look quite like the original.  Below is proof of the concept - kudos to Mr. Ericharshbarger.
