Shelly Kramer's recent blog posting points out what web developers do wrong - "12 Annoying Things About Your Website".

Some are pretty obvious, such as having loud background music and pop-up ads.  Some are more subtle, but still true, such as including Flash animation which is not supported on iPhones and iPads, and not having an easy-to-find search box.

It is worth taking a look at Shelly Kramer's blog to get a general sense of what works and what doesn't.

My web development days go back to 1995, when there was limited Internet bandwidth, and bad design focused on not having that irritating, blinking, text.

I spent ten years hand-crafting web sites with HTML and PERL scripts, with the occasional animated Flash image.  It was a big challenge just get your site to look the same on Microsoft IE vs Firefox.  Technology has advanced quite a bit, and it is unusual for for me to hand-craft a website.

The second book in the award-winning Rabbit Hole series, Looking Glass, launches in pre-release print editions at ComiCon Chicago August 8 – 11th and at GenCon Indy August 15-19th.
It will then be released on Kindle and through Amazon in August.
I'm a bit fond of this new book by client and colleague VJ Waks, perhaps more so because I created the cover.  Cover art is its own special creative process, tag-teaming with the author.  There are over 100 separate elements from three composited images in the cover, each created and placed in discussion/debate with Victoria.
One of the things I like with Wave's End is that I get to do a wide variety of things - web sites and services obviously, but I just shot a photo spread of Colorado Springs for a new client, engaged in on a process engineering meeting this week, and and revising one of my classes for my "very large retailer" in Arkansas.

What a fun thing to do in the summer.
